Energy Star Showcase Residence Hall Rooms
The energy consumed by individual residence hall rooms is the greatest growing energy cost on the UNH campus.
In an effort to curb this trend, starting in 2009 the UNH Sustainability Academy, UNH Energy Office, UNH Residential Life, UNH Housing and UNH Admissions partnered with Best Buy® Newington, NH, to showcase an ENERGY STAR® Residence Hall Room for prospective UNH students.
Two ENERGY STAR® rooms are located in Congreve Hall and are outfitted with five ENERGY STAR® appliances, including compact refrigerators, flat-screen TVs, laptops, compact fluorescent lights bulbs for desk and floor lamps, and smart power strips. ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances incorporate advanced technologies that use 10–50% less energy and water than standard models.
Come check out the ENERGY STAR® Showcase Residence Hall Rooms during one of the UNH Open House dates!
